A collector’s club based in Silicon Valley is the latest recipient of a customised Zenith watch for its members. The stainless steel Panerai Luminor Chronograph Daylight PAM00196 was introduced in 2004, and only 3700 examples were made until 2006.It’s becoming more and more frequent for watch brands to create special, exclusive editions for bona fide collectors. There is a self-compensating flat balance spring, a personalized Panerai oscillating weight, and the mechanism vibrates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). It's rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes and Côtes de Genève embellishment, and it's constructed with 27 jewels, blued screws, an Incabloc anti-shock mechanism, a straight-line lever escapement, and a Glucydur monometallic balance that's adjusted for heat, cold and 5 positions. It has a 46-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 16.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The dial is black with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers, and lozenge-shaped indices around a white luminous perimeter minute/chronograph second scale. The polished bezel has an engraved black tachymeter scale to 400 UPH. The 44mm square cushion-shaped solid three-body case gently curved lugs, and flat angled bezel, are satin/polished. There is a screw down solid case back that's engraved with "LUMINOR – DAYLIGHT – OFFICINE PANERAI – FIRENZE 1860 – AUTOMATIC – CHRONO – STAINLESS STEEL – 100M," and edition and serial number. It has the patented completely protective winding crown guard with lozenge-shaped chronograph push buttons, and there is a corrector in the left-side case band for the chronograph function at 10 o'clock. It has a black alligator leather strap with a brushed stainless steel folding deployment buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal.
